I write YA Novels and Picture Books.
As an adult I fell in love with Spongebob SquarePants and was captured by his magical underwater world. He's at the core of why I love to write: to escape with our imagination, have a laugh and capture the innocence of childhood.
My protagonists have one thing in common. They feel different from everyone around them and they will do almost anything to be accepted, to fit in. When I write, I root for the underdog to persevere and find their true selves.
And as Ellen Degeneres once said, "Yup, I'm Gay!" While that is only one part of me, I think it important to represent. To create stories for queer youth to see themselves and characters they can connect to. I can't wait for my stories to be out in the world.
